Lam Rim – Raglan, Wales

Retreat3As soon as you pass through the gates you start to relax and unwind. This beautiful manor house set in six acres of wood land and meadows has views of the Sugar Loaf Mountain; is situated outside of a little village called Penrhos, near Raglan in Gwent.

We have the great pleasure and privilege to meet here the The Venerable Geshe Damcho Yonten a Tibetan Lama, who with Margaret and Edita founded the centre in 1978. He is the spiritual Director and resident Lama/Teacher at Lam Rim. This center has a wonderful energy; one reason for this is the many visits by high ranking Lamas who dedicate their lives to compassion and spiritual values, including the Dali Lama. Now many people come to retreat here. It has a warm and homely atmosphere that embraces you with open arms.

A meditation walk way weaves its way through trees, orchard, meadow and cottage garden, where a lot of the food is grown. The work room is spacious with views out over the hills. Accommodation is in comfortable dormitories, though there are a few singlerooms on application. Meals are wonderful with lots to go round, strictly vegetarian, and most dietary requirements can be catered for.

The Coach House also offers three spacious self-contained twin apartments, well insulated and centrally heated. Each apartment contains a harmoniously designed arrangement of sitting room, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom.
