What is a Yoga Retreat?A Yoga retreat is about taking time for yourself. In today’s busy world, we find ourselves pulled from pillar to post as we struggle to fulfill our roles at work, as part of a family and as a member of a group of friends. It is all too easy to forget about yourself and to identify with the roles you are acting out. A retreat offers the space and time to find yourself once more. Of course, what you get from a Yoga retreat will depend upon who is running it, and the type of Yoga they teach. What is special about Mary’s retreats?Mary is renowned for teaching a dynamic, profound and holistic Yoga that is based on a wide range of traditions and schools. As such, Mary goes beyond simple Asana (postures) and Pranayama (breathing) to help you learn to reconnect with your true self and to connect more openly with others. Mary will help you identify your personal “blind spots” (those things about ourselves that we push into our unconscious mind) and to explore your personal Samskara (our unconscious patterns of feelings, thoughts and behaviours). Mary’s Yoga retreats are run in a non-judgemental manner, and with an ethos of compassion, empathy and tolerance. Oh, and did we mention that you’ll laugh and relax and feel good too? Weekend RetreatsA weekend retreat offers the space and time to let go of the stresses of your day-to-day life and to begin the process of reconnecting with yourself. Typically, a weekend runs from 4.00pm Friday to 11.30am Sunday. Longer RetreatsA longer retreat (4, 5 or 7 days) allows you to de-stress, become present and learn to reconnect with yourself and others in a powerful but safe manner that is simply not available other than to those few people who drop out of mainstream life to live in a Yoga Ashram (monastery). By the end of a week, you will be calm, de-stressed and much more aware of yourself, your surroundings and others around you. You may even feel like you are seeing colours, tasting food and hearing music for the first time! |
